Michael Sykes is the author of From an Island in Time, a book of poems from the Point Reyes peninsula, published by Jungle Garden Press in 1984. He has also published the work of more than 200 artists and writers in more than 50 anthologies and books under the imprint of Floating Island Publications since 1976, and has won numerous grants and awards from the National Endowment for the Arts and the California Arts Council, among others. He has started five bookstores, beginning in Point Reyes, California, in 1969 to the present day. He currently owns and operates Floating Island Books in Cedarville, California, on the edge of the Great Basin.
